COFFEE TALK
We are nearing the end of July and everyone is wondering and small-talking about the same things they wondered and small-talked about last year around this time. "Where has the summer gone?! I am sure it was not this hot last year. What happened to July? Have you been to Target? How can it already be time for school supplies?"
It is prosaic, and predictable, and you might think we would have stopped asking these questions, but we have not. No one ever grows accustomed to the wiles of time. We can only continue on with our annual questions and, in true Phineas and Ferb style, embrace each summer day with increasing fervor as they become fewer and fewer. Now is the time to make serious efforts at crossing off that bucket list and eating your weight in peaches.
I made this charred corn pasta carbonara last week and oh my gosh!!! I substituted seared chicken breasts for the shrimp because that was what I had on hand and it was absolutely fantastic. The corn adds the most wonderful pop of sweetness.
Have you checked out Jessica's new meal planning subscription? It looks pretty amazing.
Majorly cravings these milkshakes right now.
I really want to give these burgers a try before the summer is over. I love a classic American burger but have not quite gotten them down at home.
These glasses are ahhhdorable!
I tapped through Jon’s stories with envious eyes several days ago as he assembled this cake and now I really wish there was a slice sitting in front of me.
I mentioned in my stories a couple of days ago that I was planning on jumping on the bubble tea bandwagon and I can happily report success. If you feel like putting that Amazon Prime to good use and stocking up on boba supplies, there will be a recipe coming very soon. Just don't forget those extra large straws.
Avocado mousse, thoughts? I am not sure about this witchery, but I am tempted to give it a try only because I would love to see if this could actually trick Mr. Pedantic into liking avocados.
Coffee in a cone? I think it would be nice if we could just leave coffee alone for a bit. Though that's coming from the lady who has been thinking about adding boba to her iced coffee all week.
This weekend there is not much on the agenda besides the normal "homework for him / laundry and blog work for me" arrangement. I am hoping a burger and a milkshake find their way in there.
Happy weekend to you, my friends.
Sincerely,
Pedantic Foodie
