COFFEE TALK

Hey there!  Welcome to this Friday!  It was one heck of a week over here at Norwyk Manor and the dust has yet to settle, but we have brushed it off and escaped for a few days to try our hands at this relaxation thing.

I gave into my own impatience and bought a couple of fall-scented candles the second week of August.  I told myself it was because they were on sale, but it was more a move of eagerness.  I tucked the candles away in the laundry room, had a little talk with myself, vowed to keep them hidden until September 1st, and walked away.  So far I have resisted and now only a week remains to divide me and the smells of cinnamon, sugar, and waffles - because apparently that's what fall smells like.

Sure, fall won’t actually start until a month from now, but once my calendar reads “September” I cannot help but pull out the cardigans and daydream about pumpkin patches and cider doughnuts.  I will shirk all blame for my impetuous behavior because it is absolutely not my fault.  Nearly every where I go the aisles scream of the coming season.  Williams and Sonoma just about killed me with the pumpkin measuring cups and spoons last weekend.  I have loved this summer so dearly, but I cannot contain my joy for the coming of my favorite season much longer.  But not to worry, I still have a couple of summery recipes coming before I start making pumpkin doughnuts.

Um...this sounds freaking amazing.  I remember eating bowls of dried cornflakes as I kid and I have no idea why I found it appealing other than that I am a texture nut and I live for the crunch.

I am not sure about this tonnato sauce thing.  I just do not think I can get into blended fish.

A couple of summers ago my family stumbled upon a recipe for cinnamon-crusted grilled pineapple.  It was one of the easiest recipes and it found its way into nearly every meal.  This recipe looks just about as addicting.  I am very much on board the sweet and spicy train.

The pancake printer.  I guess it was only a matter of time. The future generations will never know the pleasure of having a dad whose princess pancakes look just about the same as his dinosaur pancakes.

I fell down a deep rabbit hole last week when I stumbled upon this article.  Forty-five minutes and several articles later, and I was knee-deep into the life of the modern day butler.  Blame all fascination on my Downton Abbey obsession if you will, but what a world to live in.

Apparently there's a new apple on the grocery store streets and I am going to be on the look out. I always get so excited for apple season.  Last year I discovered Envy apples and they kind of took over my world.  Right now I am just counting down the days until I can revisit these apple turnovers

Wishing you a weekend filled with pancakes, second cups of coffee, and very short to-do lists.

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie
