COFFEE TALK

See that multicolored head of hair up there?  That's mine.  At last, my lifelong wish to be a member of the ginger club has come to fruition in a very Pinterest-inspired way.  Call me basic if you will, I'll just keep sipping on this pumpkin spice latte.

I am a little peeved with the fact that the number 87 is still appearing on my weather app.  This residual summer weather nonsense is seriously throwing off my fall groove.  Despite the weather's uncooperative attitude, I am wearing my favorite vest and boots with pride and determination.

I have heard this old number calling to me lately and I think it is time for another bowl of comfort.

A hazy memory of a very pink, very sparkly pair of jeans has floated to the forefront of my consciousness recently.  Could we bring glitter jeans back into our lives?  Maybe a little less pink and a little more understated glamor?  I am envisioning a medium dye denim with a few tears paired with plaid flannel and pearls?  Oh, so good, right?  Please tell me I am not alone in thinking this is a truly fantastic vision.

This is basically my shopping list for the next eight weeks.

It has recently become glaringly obvious to me that we are, in general, a culture of very poor listeners and I have had it.  Interrupters, friends who invite you over only to hear themselves talk, inquisitors who will not even wait for a reply to their stock remark of, "how are you?" before moving on to their next statement.  I am beginning my mission for empathy and patience with myself.  A resolution, if you will.  When I ask a question, I want to listen to the answer rather than planning my follow-up statement.  I am determined to accept moments of silence in order to truly digest and thoughtfully respond to what someone has shared.  Can we be better listeners together?

Soft cocktails, huh?  It has an elegant, intriguing ring to it, though I am less than eager to toss a jigger of apple cider vinegar in my glass.

I am throwing a pumpkin painting party in a couple of weeks.  This list became my inspiration for the idea and I have my heart set on replicating the painted floral pumpkins.  A full post on the event, including snack ideas (obviously), is definitely in the plans.

We are going apple picking next weekend and I am determined to make a few caramel apples just for the heck of it.  I hate, HATE eating them because, hello sticky hair, but I feel that I would be forsaking an essential slice of autumn euphoria if I did not take at least one bite.

This chicken is already on next week's menu and I am very, very excited.

What is on your agenda this weekend?  I see s'mores in my near future which is a very good sign.

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie
