COFFEE TALK

Good morning!  How are you?  How are you really?

I have been on a chai-induced high over the past week.  I have dipped my toes into fall baking and I am more than a little excited about the return of chilly mornings.

Fall really gets me going.  I approach work, life, and routine with new vigor and enthusiasm, and I have even found a great amount of delight in my newly adopted 5:30am wake-up schedule.  Fall also encourages me to take a few of those early moments to sip at a latte and fuel my creativity.  Often this comes in the form of writing, but this past week I relocated a forgotten Christmas gift - one of those adult coloring books that have slowly taken over the aisles of Barnes and Noble.  I dug out my watercolor pens and just...colored.  Vivaldi serenaded, the candle flickered, and the rain pattered.  It was lovely.  It was one of those intentional living moments that I like to talk about, though it happened somewhat unintentionally.  I am now resolved to make more time, be it only fifteen minutes before the day really begins, to reinvest in this mind of mine that is ever being drained.  These two (one &  two) books are next on my list.  Find something that fuels you, something that requires no effort but restores your heart, and make the time.  Let's do it together.

Big news - I had my first pumpkin spice latte of the season.  Last year I was grossly unimpressed with the revised syrup, but this year they are doing it right.  I have been disenchanted with the 'Bucks ever since the unicorn fiasco, but I had to come back for the festive drinks.  It is a necessary part of the season.

Last weekend Mr. Pedantic and I spent the day around town popping in and out of shops, but my favorite and most anticipated stop was at Bath and Body Works to gather my obligatory fall-scented hand soaps.  I swear, if I wake up feeling a bit more peevish than those around me would like and I wash my hands with this stuff - churlishness is dissipated.  It smells so happy.  It smells like love feels.  You might think I am taking this too far, but I have a thing for scents.  Flowers, perfume, candles, and scented hand soaps are pretty much my favorite things in this world.

Pink chocolate.  Of course they did.  I want to be above this madness and claim that I am zero percent curious, but of course I am itching to get my hands on some.

What are your fall jams? I want to know what you are Spotify-ing.  Come September, I am a Mumford & Sons girl all the way.  The old albums, obviously.  The new stuff doesn't even count.

I really need the Halloween movies to just get out of my life and stop preempting my YouTube videos because it's freaking me out.  I swear, if I see one more creepy clown I'm going to lose it.

I made these scones yesterday and they were just as heavenly as I had remembered.  These cinnamon rolls are next on my list.

What is on your weekend agenda?  I hope it includes a cozy sweatshirt and many lattes.

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie

xoxo
