COFFEE TALK

I would like to state now that I highly object to this early Easter situation.  Why can't Easter fall on the same Sunday each year?

However, my objections to this holiday's somewhat premature arrival will by no means damper my culinary game.  Let's talk Easter food.

Last year, Mr. Pedantic and I began an Easter tradition of rising extra early on that hallowed Sunday morning, making a big breakfast, and reading the Biblical account of Easter before leaving for church.  It was so special, and a great way to focus our minds on the grand importance of the day before candy and side dishes had a chance to cloud our thoughts.

I am still undecided on what we will be breakfasting on this year, but it will probably come out of this book because I am obsessed with it right now.  I made the french onion grilled cheese Monday night and I never want to eat a normal grilled cheese sandwich again.

Last year, I made this quiche and these agua frescas for Easter brunch.  Such a good move.

This latte is the perfect Easter morning kickstarter.

These peanut butter eggs are a family tradition and entirely nonnegotiable.

Never did a soup taste so strongly of spring.  Roasted Garlic Soup with Chèvre Roasted Potatoes.

Appetizers are my favorite part of a meal.  You cannot go wrong with these Mini Almond Brie en Croute with Spiced Honey.

Dessert options aplenty...

Olive Oil Cakelets with Rosemary Lime Sorbet

Mini Almond Amaretto Cakes

Sugared Strawberry Vanilla Bean & Glazed Lemon Creme Doughnuts

What are your family's Easter traditions?  I was telling Mr. Pedantic the other day of my desire to bring back the sadly-forgotten tradition of big, flower-adorned straw hats and bonnets, but I will not be pulling out my milliner's skills this year.  I did, however, have hopes of coercing Sabine into something with lace and frills, but she ate the hair bows I bought.

Wishing you all the most wonderful, joyous Easter weekend!

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie
