Honey Sesame Grilled Wings

Let’s make wings a summer food!!

I feel like wings are a forgotten delicacy outside of football season, and being that they are one of my very favorite indulgences, I had to go about changing their culinary destiny. So, I’ve made us a summer version that not only feels fresh and seasonal, but comes together in minutes!

First, we need to prepare the wings. I like to season them super simply and let the majority of their flavor come from the grill, but an even sprinkling of salt and pepper is always in order.

After you have grilled your wings, cover them with aluminum foil to keep them warm while you prepare the glaze.

This recipe is ALL. ABOUT. THE GLAZE.

Honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and garlic simmer steadily on your stove top until the mixture is thick and syrup-y - that’s a technical term.

Then, we hit our glaze with some fresh lime to liven up the flavor and toss in the wings!

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with lime wedges. It’s that simple.

We cannot stop eating these over here and unlike buffalo wings, these actually feel really light - which is one of the things I love most about this recipe.

Monday night dinner is here and it’s golden.

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie

Honey Sesame Grilled Wings

serves 2-4 / cook & prep time 40-45 minutes

  • 3 pounds chicken wings

  • salt

  • pepper

  • 3/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

  • lime wedges, for serving

Prepare your wings by trimming away the tips and separating each wing at the joint. You can try to do this with chicken shears, but I always opt for a heavy chef’s knife.

Once you have prepared your wings, season with salt and pepper on all sides.

Set your grill to high heat and grill until the wings are evenly browned and the internal temperature reads at 165 degrees F.

Cover the wings with aluminum foil and keep warm while you prepare the glaze.

Combine honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium high heat.

Reduce heat to medium and simmer the glaze, stirring often, until it has thickened to the consistency of pure honey. Remove from heat and stir in lime juice.

Toss the cooked wings in the prepared glaze and allow to sit for five minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve alongside lime wedges.

Enjoy!
