COFFEE TALK

We are closing in on the 8-week mark and steadily checking items off of our “before baby” to-do list. I am finally feeling a little more in touch with our soon-to-be reality of parents, even though I cannot imagine all that it will entail. Ready or not, in two months, I’ll be meeting my newest best friend…

I have not talked much about my pregnancy, as most of it has felt like an uphill battle that I am constantly losing. It’s been more miserable than magical, and our little love has been titled “at-risk” since my first appointment. For these reasons, it has usually seemed best to stay quiet and to avoid the outpouring of horror stories that many enjoy offering as unsuccessful tokens of “empathy”.  That said, as the divide between due date and gestation grows smaller, I am finding new joy in this strange, unpredictable state. I am so thankful for God’s preservation of our little one and for the lessons this pregnancy has offered me. I cannot wait to share them with my baby. Quiet does not always mean perfect, and love is often more listening than advising.

Now, that was a bit heady for a Friday morning…. Let’s talk about all the things as we slip into weekend mode.

I am full-on ready for spring right now. I blame the Target Hot Spot section and all their adorably charming Easter decor for any premature excitement. One thing I think we can all agree on, the return of Cadbury Eggs is always welcome, no matter how early.

One of the pleasures I have missed the most during pregnancy is that of cured meats. This Ham Bar is the stuff of my dreams.

I have been craving fish through most of my pregnancy, so of course, these lemon garlic fish sticks look AMAZING.

I have been making this cake on repeat and, if you haven’t tried it yet, it is a must. Weekend project, anyone?

Sincerely,

Pedantic Foodie
