Hey there! It's Friday, even though my brain continues to tell me otherwise. The internet is quiet right now as we try to wrap our minds around the fact that Christmas is over and 2017 is quickly approaching its close. The trash cans are still full of wrapping paper, the empty stockings hang placidly, and the looming question of "when do I take down the Christmas tree" hangs upon the air. I keep thinking that I should be on break this week, and the fact that work and life goes on is nearly inconceivable to the part of my brain that is perpetually on a school calendar. I miss my routine, but at the same time, I have not been able to fully dive back in. It is a wonderfully cozy, yet peculiar time. So, I pour myself another cup of tea, grab a somewhat stale sugar cookie, and continue to contemplate this ever-puzzling time of the year.

It seems as though the question is leaving lips with greater frequency than ever before. Where did December go? How is it that we now find ourselves only three days away from The Day. Most years, I would be mourning over lost time and begging it all to slow down, but as much as I hate to say goodbye to the joy of anticipation, I cannot wait for Christmas Day. Actually, I am most looking forward to Christmas Eve - when Mr. Pedantic and I have our own little celebration with just the two of us. There is a ham in the fridge a bottle of something sparkly chilling. I am counting down the days.

Hi there! What is on your weekend agenda? We are planning to kick it off tonight with a Christmas movie with family. Mr. Pedantic has a rather sickening load of finals due, but I am hoping to pull him away from his desk Saturday evening for some pre-birthday celebrating. During the day, I will probably be making my birthday cake (white chocolate cheesecake) and sipping on a few of these spritzers while he studies.
