It is the middle of yet another week and time for our Nerd Word.
Did you know that there is a name for a mixture of carrots, onions, and celery cooked in butter and used as a base for soup? Well there is! This combination of vegetation is called a “mirepoix”. Now we can all sound like Julia Child the next time we make chicken soup!
mirepoix |mi(ə)rˈpwä|
noun
-Chopped vegetables, (usually onion, celery, and carrots), sweated in butter and/or oil and used in soups, sauces, stews or braised dishes.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
