Happy, happy Friday! I have been anticipating this weekend for ages because it is the first weekend in quite some time that Mr. Pedantic and I will be spending with just each other. We do have a few tiny commitments here and there, but overall I will have him to myself.
January is at an end, and I have to say that it was rather splendid. I had purposed in my mind to intentionally enjoy the month that I have always met with such dread in previous years, and, to my delight, I did. Intentions really do have great bearing upon results.
February, on the other hand, was kicked off with a rather depressing load of tax prep which is likely my most hated task. While self-employment has its glamour, the downsides certainly make themselves known come tax time. Bleh. I need chocolate.
Speaking of which, have you had these dark chocolate orange sticks? They are so good if you keep them in the freezer. I love having them alongside my morning tea.
This guide on buying olive oil was spot on. My favorite every day olive oil is Trader Joe's Organic Unfiltered Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Have you made this sparkling blood orange chai yet? If not, this weekend is the perfect excuse!
Our tea stock was dwindling, so Mr. Pedantic and I put in a big order to Fortnum and Mason this past week. Their tea is our favorite. We especially love Countess Grey and Breakfast Blend. Tea is my daily vice.
I have an extra special surprise coming to you on Monday, followed by ALL of the Valentine's Day recipes! I cannot wait!
Happy, happy weekend!
Sincerely,
Pedantic Foodie
Welled-up hope, excitement, and tears preluded this momentous brunch which now feels so much the culmination of them all. ONE seems to signify the realness of this charmed existence as mother, daughter, family. Our Eivelyn Blair has completed us.
A tale of recipe conception…
It had been a long day and all I really wanted was some quality couch time with the Bon Appetit test kitchen. Whatever plans I had in mind for dinner were soon diminished by more slothful desires for all things lazy and cozy.
Hi, friends. How are you? Should we talk about the humidity? No, let’s ignore the general dampness of our clothes and make something together.
We are exactly four days away from our little love’s delivery so I decided that it was about time I shared a glimpse of our nursery.
In all the manic that is our world right now, the simple pleasures of life have become all the more valuable to me. Pleasures of warm days, patios, tall glasses of lime-spiked ice tea, and a recklessly indulgent snack that tastes of summer bring a sense of familiarity to an altogether unfamiliar existence.
I love that my generation has taken a hold of snacks and made them into not only a socially-acceptable mode of daily nutrition but a hallowed one. If you're not entirely sure of the current snack pseudonyms, see; charcuterie, tapas, tastings, flights…
