Happy Friday! After several weeks of utter chaos, my head is back in the game and we need to talk about all the things!
Summer lovers, try not to hate me, but I am in autumn countdown mode and there’s no stopping me now. Virginia weather has a way of taking me to the breaking point far before the summer calendar would allow, and it has happened again. I am trying to show restraint, at least until after our vacation next month, so I’ll be avoiding Bath and Body Works and their collection of autumn teasers until the end of August. But, there’s hope in my heart and sweaters in my online shopping cart.
These limoncello ricotta pancakes are the perfect weekend project and may be one of the best breakfasts I have ever met with.
Seriously craving this pork, plum and pistachio rice.
These crepe wafers are, by far, the best packaged cookie I have ever discovered. If you haven’t tried them, you must.
I saw Lion King earlier this week and wow! The animation (I almost feel guilty using that term because it was an entirely different level) is just mind-blowing. Anyways, I digress, and you do not need my review to tell you that it is something special. However, this was a pretty big moment in my life, seeing that I have yet to watch the original Lion King movies. I’ve made it 24 years without seeing one of the most iconic animated films, but now I wonder if I have been missing out. The updated version of this film was really amazing though, and a perfect way to escape the heat.
It’s time for the old Saveur Blog Awards again. If you genuinely love this site, I would be so honored to have your vote!
I had to replace my laptop recently; a painful but necessary purchase, but! Apple offers an amazing back-to-school deal this time of year, and even if you are not a student, it seems that everyone can take advantage of there offer of free Beats! I fell in love with this pale blue set and now I am obsessed with them. Sabine is pretty happy too because I am a little more inclined to take her on extra walks simply for an excuse to use them.
Even though I am not really a fan of the chain these days, I have found myself in the Starbuck’s drive-thru multiple times this week in pursuit of energy. The heat combined with fresh allergens and more than a little life chaos has led me to desperation. That said, I have stumbled upon a new favorite. Well, new to me. The vanilla sweet cream cold brew is a really nice way overwhelm exhaustion, especially if you ask for extra sweet cream. Yes, I am five years old.
Mr. Pedantic and I are going to Disney World for a day or two next month and I have already thrown brand awareness to the wind and bought us the most obnoxious park-themed shirts for the occasion. I hate myself.
Um, let’s take a moment to appreciate the marriage of two of my very favorite things - funfetti cake and petit fours. AHH! Of course, I will have to skip the jam and go straight for the buttercream.
Sincerely,
Pedantic Foodie
I love that my generation has taken a hold of snacks and made them into not only a socially-acceptable mode of daily nutrition but a hallowed one. If you're not entirely sure of the current snack pseudonyms, see; charcuterie, tapas, tastings, flights…
