Lime, Grapefruit and Ginger Sorbet

I’ve always relished the past; it’s memories, it’s recipes, it’s awesome fashion and on occasions I’ve looked back and longed for the chance to live in it.  But not today.  I am most appreciative of my air condition room. With temperatures reaching 100 degrees or more lately I have made my time out of doors very brief.  Air conditioning and sorbet are the things we need.  They make us spoiled, happy, people and there is nothing wrong with that.  So here it is Frozen Concoction No. 3, Lime, Grapefruit and Ginger Sorbet!

This sorbet perfectly defines the concept of “layering flavors”.  It hits your palate with a burst of citrus and fades into  an after note of spicy ginger.  A stupendous way to beat the heat.   Let us begin!

Start by zesting and juicing your grapefruit, then grate about a teaspoons of fresh ginger.  Whisk juice, zest, ginger, and lime curd in a small bowl and add half and half.  In a small saucepan combine milk and sugar and heat until sugar has completely dissolved.  Let cool to room temperature and then combine with half and half mixture.  Chill for 4 hours or overnight, prepare in ice cream maker according to manufacturers directions.  Enjoy!
