Running back under the shade...

Pedantic Foodie Instagram

I feel like a child cautiously dipping her toes into the pool and quickly pulling them out again when it comes to summer.  So many facets of the season are tempting, yet there is something that always makes me pull my toes right back out - namely, the heat.

I usually end up running back under the shade.  I browse the internet, I make lists, I scroll and, scroll and, scroll.

I just finished reading My Life in France by Julia Child.  Her sanguine perspective towards life and food exude from each page.

Joy The Baker has her new book available for pre-order!

Instagram is always a favorite pastime.  Can’t.  Stop.  Scrolling.

If you don’t already follow Benjamin Hole, you need to.  His feed is a rustic masterpiece.

Cory Burnsed and his wife Jade are the writers of Endlessly Enraptured - their feeds are just as lovely as their blog.

I like to daydream about buying everything on my Pinterest boards.  Namely this watch.

I’m in love with this nail polish!

This book will definitely be joining my shelf very soon.

I probably need more sunscreen.  Happy Monday!

Sincerely,

Shakespeare and Instagram

"From you have I been absent in the spring,

When proud-pied April, dressed in all his trim,

Hath put a spirit of youth in everything,

That heavy Saturn laughed and leapt with him.

Yet nor the lays of birds, nor the sweet smell

Of different flow'rs in odor and in hue,

Could make me any summer’s story tell,

Or from their proud lap pluck them where they grew.

Nor did I wonder at the lily’s white,

Nor praise the deep vermilion in the rose;

They were but sweet, but figures of delight,

Drawn after you, you pattern of all those.

Yet seemed it winter still, and, you away,

As with your shadow I with these did play."

William Shakespeare - Sonnet 98

The past few nights I have been going through Shakespeare's Sonnets.  In the evenings all I want is to feel peaceful.  His sonnets are revitalizing and tranquil.  Think of them as yoga for your ears.

This particular sonnet expresses the elegance of Spring.   The writer describes how the floral beauty reminds him of the one he is longing for.  He hopes and dreams while all the time basking in the backdrop of a new season.

Instagram is a wonderful tool for capturing the unadulterated allure of life.  I gathered several shots of my favorite Springtime moments.

When I look at these ducks my mind immediately turns to Beatrix Potter and Jemimah Puddleduck.

Being apart of the growth of your food is so satisfying.  It's a raw pleasure.

Some people think they're weeds, I think they're beautiful.  Besides, any flower named after butter has my automatic affection.

Enjoy this season.  Breathe it in - pollen and all.
